What does Guardian actually do?
It refuses every new remote connection to your PC until somebody approves it. That approval comes either from a person you trust, or from you — and those are not equally strong, because only one of them is somebody the caller isn't talking to. You choose which, here on the site, not in the app.
Which approval option should I choose?
Someone else approving is the strongest, and it's the default. A caller who controls the PC and has the user on the phone has no route to a different person at all.
Approving for yourself is the convenience option, by approval link or by PIN. Both stop strangers, automated attempts, and anyone controlling the PC — an approval link will not open on the machine the request is about. Neither reliably stops you being talked round, because you are the one on the call. Use it when there's nobody to nominate.
Is Guardian an antivirus?
No. Keep your antivirus. It judges whether files are malicious; Guardian judges whether anybody agreed to let this person connect. A remote-support tool a scammer talks someone into installing is usually not malware, which is why a virus scan stays quiet.
A scammer is on the phone with my parent. Can't they talk them into approving it?
Not in the default setting. The person at the PC has no approve button — the request goes to the Trusted Guardian by email and in the dashboard, neither of which the caller can reach.
Can I still use TeamViewer, AnyDesk, or my IT person?
Yes. Guardian is not a ban on remote support. Approve a session once, or whitelist that address so future connections go straight through. Business deployments can whitelist the tools and addresses their support desk uses.
What if nobody answers the approval request?
Nothing connects. Guardian fails closed, so an unanswered request is a refused one.
Where does the PIN come from, and can someone get it out of me?
You set it in your account on this website, and it is never shown in the Guardian app, so someone watching or controlling the screen cannot read it or reset it. They can still ask you to type it, and that is the honest limit of any approval you give yourself. If being talked round is the thing you are worried about, nominate a Trusted Guardian instead. That is exactly what it is for.
What are Blocked IPs?
An address whose connections have been dropped five times is blocked outright and stops generating prompts. The list is visible and editable in your dashboard, so anything blocked by mistake can be released.
What happens after I approve a connection?
Guardian keeps watching that session. If it starts transferring installers or reaching for administrator rights, Guardian can end it and tell you what happened in plain language, with technical details if you open them.
Can Guardian see my screen? Can a Trusted Guardian?
No, and no. There is no continuous screen recording. A Trusted Guardian is asked to approve or refuse a connection and is told when something serious happened — not given your documents, messages, passwords, or banking session.
What happens after the trial, and can I cancel?
