Fake Microsoft support scams
A pop-up or a caller using Microsoft’s name to get remote control.
A full-screen warning, a ringing phone, or a browser tab that will not close is a common opening. The message claims Microsoft, Windows, or “the security department” has detected a threat. The next instruction is a phone number or a remote-support download.
Microsoft does not cold-call home users and walk them into a remote session. Close the browser with Task Manager if the page traps you. Do not call the number on the screen.
If you already installed what they named, disconnect and check for that remote tool before you do anything else on that PC.
