TeamViewer scams
The same pattern as other remote-support scams, with a brand people already trust.
TeamViewer is widely used by real IT staff. Scammers rely on that reputation. They tell you to install it, then to approve a connection. Once they are in, they may download another program or ask you to move money while they “secure” an account.
A company you already pay for support will not cold-call you and demand a new TeamViewer session to your personal PC. If a session happened, disconnect, note the time, and check what was installed during it.
You can keep using TeamViewer for people you actually trust. Guardian’s answer is not to ban it, but to require an approval before any new connection starts, so an unexpected session never gets as far as asking.
